CircuLedger was founded in 2026 in India by Sunil Verma, an engineer who saw how the global battery industry is struggling to keep pace with EU regulatory demands ahead of the February 2027 Battery Passport mandate.

We're pre-launch — the platform is being actively built, and I'm in conversation with prospective design partners ahead of wider rollout.

A Battery Passport is a mandatory digital record under EU Regulation 2023/1542 containing all relevant data about a battery's origin, chemistry, composition, carbon footprint, performance, and end-of-life handling. It must be accessible via a QR code linked to a secure digital twin, enabling transparency across the full battery value chain.
Battery Passports are required for EV batteries and rechargeable industrial batteries above 2 kWh from 18 February 2027. LMT batteries follow from the same date. Carbon footprint declarations for EV batteries apply from 2025. Companies should begin implementation now — supplier onboarding and data integration takes 12–24 months.
Any economic operator placing covered batteries on the EU market must ensure a compliant Battery Passport exists — including battery cell and pack manufacturers, EV OEMs, importers, and distributors of industrial batteries above 2 kWh. This applies to both EU-manufactured and imported batteries.
EU-mandated data includes: battery category and chemistry, manufacturer identity and production location, nominal capacity and voltage, carbon footprint per lifecycle stage, recycled material content (cobalt, lithium, nickel), supply chain due diligence documentation, State of Health and performance parameters, and end-of-life and dismantling instructions.
CircuLedger is being built to connect to your manufacturing systems, ERP, IoT sensors, and supply chain partners via REST API or pre-built connectors. The platform will automatically aggregate, validate, and structure the required data, calculate carbon footprints, and issue a compliant Battery Passport with a unique QR code — no manual data entry required. We're onboarding early-access partners now.
Non-compliant batteries cannot be placed on the EU market and must be withdrawn. Member States are required to establish effective penalties for non-compliance, expected to include substantial financial fines. Market exclusion across 27 EU member states is the primary commercial risk — making early compliance investment far more cost-effective than remediation.
